What are some cheap solutions to a wireless home?

I just purchased a laptop. I already have a desktop computer that is connected to the internet. Is there a cheap way to make what I already have into wireless internet so I don't have to stay connected to access the internet from my new laptop? Thanks in advance.

3. all you need is a wireless router, you do not need a wireless PCI card for your desktop since its already connected to the internet. as far as the laptop it is rare that new ones don't come with a built in wireless card. most likely it has one already. a descent router should be about 40 bucks. once you get the router, insert the CD in the desktop to guide you through the process of setting it up and securing the network so no one freeloads your internet. and you do not need a wireless printer unless you want to be able to print wirelessly from your laptop without you having to physically connect your laptop to the printer.
