Alternative Solutions to Wireless xbox 360 networking?

Are there any alternatives to linking the xbox 360 up to an extra wireless router or bridge to the mainframe router located in a different room, too far for a long ethernet cable to reach. Or if there are no cheaper solutions is it really worth coughing up £60 for an official Microsoft Xbox wireless network USB device?

  1. The pub.
  2. A wirless USB drive would work. Just like a regular flash drive, but it has like an atennae. Way better than the MXB wireless network thing.
  3. We just hooked up our Xbox 360 to our laptop that had wireless internet. I have no idea how he got that to work, but there is a way!
  4. get a long cord, hook it directly to ur computer from ur xbox
  5. I didn't want to shell out the 100 USD for a microsoft networking device so I ended up getting 100 ft of CAT-5 cable and taping it to the floor, running all the way into my room. Got the cable on sale for 30 USD total.
  6. yes there are just use any wireless bridge they are cheap and better than xbox's ones, they just sell em at a high price because people dont know much about them. for example this is my old one before i got it wired http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?rlz=1C1CHMB_en-GBGB318GB318&sourceid=chrome&q=belkin+gaming+adapter&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=818358327383950524&ei=r2AgSpWnG-STjAf_8sSsBg&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=4#ps-sellers
  7. yesss, if you have a laptop or somthing you can connect an ethenet cable from the laptop to the xbox 360 and it runs off the laptops wireless theres videos on google on how to do it, depending on if you have xp or vista, this is what i do because my xbox and tv and laptop are all in the same area.. this is a free way of doing it if you have a laptop, if not then you have to pay some money for some device like a wireless dongle, check on ebay, put in xbox 360 wireless, and itl probably come up with every option you have. hope this helps
